Toru Liquors

Beer

His favorite is Japanese domestic beer, Kirin's Lager. This taste is succeeded from his father. Nowadays, Japanese top brand has changed to Asahi(In Japanese)'s Super Dry. But it is too dry for him to change his taste.

Sometimes he enjoys foreign beers. He experienced Corona beer with a piece of lime in his business trip to San Diego, United States and it became one of his favorite. He can get Corona in Japanese liquor shop recently. He also remember the first time he tried chinese Chintao beer at World Exibition Center of Disney World in Holland, United State. It was unique taste, but he cannot find it in Japanese liquor shop.

Sake

Kannabi Kannabi

For Japanese food, Japanese sake is the best. As a favorite sake, he drinks Kannabi(In Japanese) at his home. Kannabi is a local sake in Matsue city(Partly in English) of Shimane prefecture, his hometown. One of his friend, who is carring on a food store, made an association to bring up rice plants and make up sake by themselves. The name of the association is "Kannabi no kai" and the results is Kannabi. Kannabi comes from the name of a mountain where God lives. Its taste is fruity and sharp, so he always drinks much. But eventhough he bacomes overdrunken, he can get up as usual without headache in the next morning. Kannabi is such an attractive sake.

Wine

Budo-Shinwa Budo-Shinwa Festa Festa

For French, Italian and Spanish food, wine is good. As a favorite white wine, he drinks Budo-Shinwa at his home. Budo-Shinwa is also a local wine of Shimane prefecture, it is fruity and not so expensive. "Budo" means grapes and "Shinwa" means a myth, so that the name "Budo-Shinwa" has a same flavor as Kannabi. These liquors make him remember his hometown. Recently, he has found a new named Festa, which is also a local wine of Shimane prefecture. It was made of mountain-bred grape using organic fertilizer. Its taste is better than Budo-Shinwa but more expensive.

Anyway, he loves California Chardonnay and French Chablis also. He enjoyed them much in the trips to US and Europe.

Shochu

He sometimes enjoy shochu with hot water in winter. Shochu is a Japanese domestic distilled spirits made of various vegetables such as rices, potatoes, wheats and so on. As Un-Kai is made of buckwheats like soba-noodle(See Junko's page), it belongs to the type of so-called "Soba-Shocho". "Un" means clouds and "Kai" means sea, so that Un-Kai means "Sea of clouds".

Whisky

He sometimes drinks several glasses of whisky. Suntory's Yamazaki(In Japanese but cool!) is not so special and expensive. What's the reason why he drinks Yamazaki? It's an easy question, the kanji characters of the name "Yamazaki" is same as that of his first name "Yamasaki". That's the reason he drinks it.

Recently, he found out Macallan, its flavor is mellow and cool. It was a recommendation of his friend, who said it smells a wind of Scotland's seacoast. He also found out Bowmore. Bowmore is an Islay malt and has unique taste than speyside malt like Macallan. He drinks each according to his feeling.

He loves barbon whiskies with a memory of the barbon street in Neworleans where he made the first English speech at a international conference. The favorite is Jack Daniel's which was the first one that gave him a pleasure of barbon and was a present from his US friend. After that he tried I.W.Harper, Wild Turky, Jim Beam... all were good. But Mr. Jack Daniel is the special with a scene of the Al Pacino's movie "Scent of Woman".

Cognac

After a dinner, he sometimes enjoys a glass (or glasses) of Cognac. Remy's XO/Napoleon and Camus XO/Napoleon are always plays well on his tongue, occasionally with icecream. They were so expensive that he could buy only at a tax-free shop on the way back to Japan. Recently he can buy them in a Japanese liquor shop with reasonable prices.
